About the event

Before flowing through the heart of Hyderabad, the River Musi begins its journey in the forested hills of the Ananthagiri region near Vikarabad.

Join The Deccan Archive for a guided trek exploring the origins of one of Hyderabad's most significant rivers. Walking through the wooded landscape of the Ananthagiri Hills, we will trace the Musi's early course and examine the natural systems that sustain the river before it enters the city.

The trek will explore the region's geography, seasonal streams, vegetation, and watershed, while examining the historical relationship between the Musi and the development of Hyderabad. We will also discuss how changing land use, urbanisation, and environmental pressures have transformed the river over time.

An opportunity to experience the Musi beyond its familiar urban stretches and understand the ecological landscape from which it originates.
