Fateh Darwaza Heritage Walk: The Destruction of Muhammadnagar
Ever wondered how the fort of Golconda looked like in its prime? How did the Mughal forces penetrate such an infamously impregnable fortress? Join us on a walk from the Victory Gate to the Bala Hisar!
Time & Location
May 13, 2023, 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
Hyderabad, Sajjid Colony, Fateh Darwaza, Golconda Fort, Hyderabad, Telangana 500008, India
About the event
The fort of Qila Muhammadnagar, which is now known as Golconda, was a major centre of world trade in the 16th century right until the Mughal annexation when it saw a rapid decline in trade and was reduced to a military garisson for the Mughal-Timurid armies. Join us on a walk from the Victory Gate to the Bala Hisar (High Citadel).
The walk will include a climb of the inner hill fort and the palace areas. We will be meeting at the Fateh Darwaza and walking through the Old Bazaars, looking at remains of old buildings and masjids. Inside the ticketed fort area, we will see the numerous water features, palaces and bastions.
Note: The entry tickets have to be purchased by you a day in advance through the official ASI website for early access to the fort. Details will be provided after your registration process is complete.
