About the event
The walk will be organised at Koti Residency compound. This site is significant in the context of understanding then newly formed Hyderabad state and its relationship with the Indian Republic as it has been the locus of colonial British power in Nizam State and center of the 1857 rebellion.
Residency as a site creates multiple windows into understanding Colonial, Feudal and Representative democratic structures of Deccan that operated in opposition and tandem with each other. It also gives a space to talk about the Hyderabad state that was formed by the new Indian republic with Last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan as the Rajpramukh. We will cover the different polities and powers that operated in this Hyderabad state in the Modern Era with special focus on post independence Hyderabad State.
